Movement and first 3 scenarios
In 2 weeks I created a prototype with character movement and the first 3 scenarios: bedroom, elevator and the “bottle desert”.
The main difficulty I'm having so far is the camera. The camera when rotating around the player cannot get into walls or inside objects, but making an algorithm that deviates from objects without having to teleport the camera madly is complicated, and too much camera movement can make some people sick.
I also tried a fixed camera in the bedroom, but nowadays it's not as good as it looks. Part of the result concept is freedom of exploration, being able to watch around you, fixed camera limits it and makes the game look 2D.
About the character movement, I'm having to decide between investing a lot of time and making a realistic movement system or just animating what is needed to show what the character is doing (standing, walking or running for example).
